PLEASE TAKE NOTICE the Alamance County Board of Commissioners, will hold a Public Hearing on December 30, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room, 2nd floor of the County Office Building, 124 W. Elm St., Graham, NC. The purpose of the meeting will be to receive comments on a proposal to extend economic development incentives for a proposed distribution facility to be constructed in the Alamance County, City of Graham and City of
Mebane Economic Development zone. The proposed incentive would include the acquisition by the Cities of Graham and Mebane and the County of Alamance of approximately 186 acres of land to be conveyed to the company in accordance with the provisions of NCGS 158-7.1(d). The estimated value of the interest to be conveyed is $4,339,000.00. The consideration for the conveyance will be the company’s agreement to construct upon the site within five years, improvements consisting of a distribution center and related facilities which will employ not less than 450 people and which will increase the tax base by not less than $85,000,000.00. Following the public hearing, it is the intent of the County Commissioners to consider the approval of the proposed incentive after making the determinations and contractual agreements required by NCGS 158-7.1.

NOTICEis hereby given that the Alamance County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the County Commissioners’ Meeting Room located on the 2nd Floor of the County Office Building, 124 W. Elm Street, Graham, NC 27253. The purpose of the public hearing will be to receive public comments on a proposal to grant economic development incentives to Kayser Roth Corporation for the creation of approximately 50 jobs and a new minimum local taxable investment of $18 million for building and equipment. No tax increase is contemplated due to this offer of assistance to the industry.
The Alamance County Board of Commissioners is seeking a citizen to fill a vacancy on the Board of Social Services. The appointee will be appointed to a term that will expire on June 30, 2015.
The Board of Social Services (DSS Board) provides policy guidance for the Department of Social Services and establishes county policies for the programs established by North Carolina General Statutes in conformity with the rules and regulations of the Social Services Commission. The board also appoints and works closely with the Director of Social Services to support the Department’s efforts to: protect vulnerable children and adults; strengthen and preserve families; provide access to health care and better nutrition; and promote economic stability while encouraging personal responsibility.
MEETINGS: The DSS Board typically meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 12 pm in the Ed Room A at the Human Services Building located at: 319 Graham-Hopedale Road Burlington, NC.
MEMBERS: Two of the board members are appointed by the County Board of Commissioners (one which is a Commissioner) and two are appointed by the State Social Services Commission. These four appoint the fifth member.
